Human Relations Commission
The purpose of the Commission shall be to promote a truly open community with long term population diversity and integration. Also to stimulate the improvement of human relations among all persons, so as to provide all citizens with an equal opportunity to grow, participate in and share to the best of their ability the economic, educational, political and social benefits of the community.
The duties of the Commission shall include but shall not be limited to the following:
To involve all segments of the community in understanding and appreciating the benefits
of positive intergroup relations
To offer a range of programs and services that help our community prevent and resolve issues of human relations and civil rights
To develop ways of anticipating, preparing for and relieving community tensions arising from intergroup conflict
To serve as an educational arm of the municipality in the field of human relations to all persons, groups, and institutions in the community.
To performing as a catalyst in improving human relations and equitable living conditions.
Host voter registration drives
Provide a process whereby conflict resolution and mediation will help people in conflict to determine a solution to their problems
To bring the community together by hosting "Diversity Dinners" and other programs
To partner with other community organizations to help create "youth projects"
